support mirm

my bff in new york, miriam, is once again joining team in training for the nyc triathlon. besides training herself, she as also volunteered to mentor newbies at marathons to help them be successful in their own nyc triathlon journeys. so if you like to donate money to good causes (this would be fundraising for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) please visit her page and give her some dough, yo. i will be donating as soon as i see how much money i spend in her auctions to raise money for the race. i promise. right now i’m the only bidder. bet that will change. anyhow, if you are interested check it out.

getting lost.

this morning on my 6 a.m. walk/jog/run i ventured into a nearby neighborhood in which i thought i knew like the back of my hand. i waqs wrong. i ventured down side streets and turned here and there thinking that i was working in a loop out and then back to the main street of the neighborhood in which i could turn and return back to north bend. yeah i ended up comin gout on jessup about a mile down the road from where a iwanted to be. so i ended up going an extra mile and half or so to walk up jessup to the middle school and the main street of the neighborhood. and then head back towards North Bend and LaSalle from there. that’s one way to push yourself to go farther. overall, it was a gorgeous morning that most missed out on b/c they were still in bed. the only mood killers were the honks from a few (2) “gentlemen” who felt it necessary to interrupt my “me time”. and no they weren’t about to hit. they thought apparantly that i’m reall attractive with my hair pulled back in a nasty bun/ponytail contraption and all sweaty. sorry, just don’t understand it.

renizzle is back.

i have recently started to run again like i did in college at the suggestion of one of my friends who i hadn’t spoken with in a very long time. (no worries folks - i’m trying very hard not to run at night like i used to.) it was the best advice i could have ever received. somewhere on my initial run between losing my left and then right lung, i found her. i found renizzle. i found the awesome girl i used to be. the fire i used to have and that has been missing since college. she took a very long hiatus, but she’s back and it feels great. the fun-loving, vivacious, fiesty, happy girl is back. and just like the BT song, “she’s never gonna come back down”

so you know who you are and thanks. thanks for bringing the fire back in my eyes. thanks for reminding how great i was and still am. and yes, the challenge is on. i will take you in the turkey day race. or i at least guarantee to keep up with your 6′4 naturally thin, genetically built for running self.

the ridiculous diet plan there is absolutely no chance in hell i’ll be able to follow.

the goal is to eat 4-6 times a day and drink at least 1/2 to 1 gallon of water a day.

fibrous veggies (1/2 to 1 1/2cups per meal) - spprouts, asparagus, avocado, beet greens, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, chard, chives, collard greens, cucumber, eggplant, escarole, fennel, kale, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, okra, olives, onion, parsley, peppers, pumpkin, radishes, rhubarb, sauerkraut, scallions, snow pea pods, squash, spinach, string beans, tomato, turnips, water chestnuts, wax beans, and zucchini

lean protein (1 serving per meal and 2 preworkout) - chicken, turkey, tuna, shellfish, protein (whey protein shake), lean beef, cottage cheese and egg whites

carbohydrates ( 1 serving at breakfast and 1 serving after a workout) - brown rice (but only if i must have a “bad” carb - yes this is a bad carb), oats, sweet potatoes, yams, fiber one all bran cereal, starchy veggies (peas, corn, etc), beans/legumes, whoe-wheat pasta and whole grain breads, pitas, etc.

and if i absolutely must cave and have a sweet - i can only have peanut m&m’s

if you really know me then you know this diet plan is impossible.

my new trainer.

so i have worked out with my new trainer a couple of times now, and i have decided i’m going to keep my new trainer. he’s fabulous aside from his ridiculously strict diet plan. he’s smart, actually knows what he is doing and pays attention to what i’m doing (actually does his job). not like a lot of trainers who you see staring into space or watching one of the tvs while the person is bench pressing a ton of weight. basically he reminds me a lot of my old trainer robert. so i feel like i’m in good hands. and if he’s like robert i’ll be in kickass shape in no time. also, i think i’m a good fit for him. he’s so excited he finally has someone (a girl) who already has perfect form and technique, can benchpress weight and can do squats with a bar. no sissy workouts here! ; ) he says he can’t wait to show me all kinds of crazy cool alternative exercises he’s got up his sleeve. i’ve never seen a trainer so excited about future workouts.

workout song of the day.

piece of my heart - janis joplin.

i luv my new gym!

tonight i tried out my new gym and it wonderful. even though it’s half the size of my old gym, there was a total of about 10 people and plenty of open machines. the guy at the door was super-friendly as well. he stopped by to chat for minute while i was working out. and when i left he walked me out to my car to make sure i got there safely since it was dark out. excellent customer service!  ; )

the gym is a meat market even at 6 am

today marks the second time in about two weeks some random guy tries to pick me up at 6 in the morning at the gym. i’m still half asleep, sweating like a dog with my headphones on. i didn’t get up at the crack of dawn in an effort to get a date. i don’t care how big your guns are. i came to work out and i don’t wanna talk to ya.
